Sheltered Workshop


New Horizons is proud to offer a structured, supportive environment where individuals with developmental disabilities can build meaningful work skills and gain hands-on experience.

Our Sheltered Workshop provides center-based pre-vocational training, allowing participants to learn essential job skills while earning a paycheck. This program is designed to foster independence, responsibility, and confidence through purposeful work.

What We Do

Participants in the Sheltered Workshop contribute to the success of our thrift store by:

  • Sorting, organizing, and preparing donated items for display

  • Assisting with quality control and inventory tasks

  • Supporting daily operations under staff supervision

  • Gaining valuable routines and transferable job skills in a safe, structured setting

Who We Serve

The workshop is open to clients of New Horizons as well as other developmentally disabled members of the community who are ready to take steps toward employment readiness in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Program Goals

  • Develop good work habits and time management skills

  • Enhance fine motor coordination and task completion

  • Build self-esteem through accomplishment and contribution

  • Prepare participants for future employment opportunities in the community
